It’s been a busy start to the “fall” season in Sarasota, Florida, as our community continues to bid farewell to athletes and spectators from around the globe who recently attended and competed in the 2017 World Rowing Championship (September 23-October 1).
The Sarasota-Bradenton area hosted 1,700 athletes as well as spectators from more than 60 countries as part of the major sporting event. Our team was proud to serve as a “team hotel” for France, Monaco, Hungary and Greece, so you know who we were cheering for! It was our pleasure to host a great group of people over 10 days. Congratulations to all the competing teams who took home medals! Here’s a quick look back at the 2017 competition, with photos courtesy of 2017 World Rowing Championships.
If you’re interested in attending the 2018 World Rowing Championships, you’ll have to venture all the way to Plovdiv, Bulgaria. But don’t worry, Nathan Benderson Park is sure to host many rowing events for years to come! In fact, the 2018, 2021 and 2022 Division I, II and III NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships and the 2018 World Rowing Masters Regatta will be held right here in Sarasota-Bradenton at Nathan Benderson Park. If you’re planning to attend an event at the park, we hope you’ll consider staying with us at the Comfort Suites Sarasota.
