Staff members from the hotel helped more than 150 neighbors and residents celebrate National Waffle Day at The Salvation Army by cooking and serving their signature Belgian waffles.
National Waffle Day in the United States dates back to 1869 with the invention of the waffle iron; just four years after William Booth started The Salvation Army in London. Over 250 toiletry bags were also given out.
The experience serves not only as a special meal, but also as an excellent reminder for the Salvation Army clients that our community cares about each of them. One resident remarked, “The spirit of caring of Comfort Suites waffled into our hearts today.”
“We are proud to give back as the brand extends a special thank you to our communities and pays it forward,” added Laurie Pike, director of sales and marketing for the Comfort Suites Sarasota.
Sharna Rozin, assistant director of development and volunteer services for The Salvation Army Center of Hope said, “Thank you, Comfort Suites, for standing with us as together we help change lives every day of the year.”
It was certainly a great morning of giving and thanks as #ComfortSaysThanks on #NationalWaffleDay!
You can help pay it forward too by retweeting or sharing a post on your personal social media network including the #ComfortSaysThanks hashtag to help build Choice Hotels’ waffle donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America!
